{"id":20,"date":"2010-06-09T10:14:18","date_gmt":"2010-06-09T16:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kirkgray.com\/blather\/?p=20"},"modified":"2010-06-09T11:26:24","modified_gmt":"2010-06-09T17:26:24","slug":"safari-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.kirkgray.com\/blather\/?p=20","title":{"rendered":"Safari 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I started this blog, my idea for the first few posts was a short series of things that make browsing the web more secure and enjoyable (or in some case just more bearable).<\/p>\n<p>Like all new things, it didn&#8217;t come together as quickly as I thought it would.\u00c2\u00a0 Research to make the articles complete and accurate ended up taking me on the long route to areas I hadn&#8217;t considered.\u00c2\u00a0 Then that route lead me back to my original ideas.<\/p>\n<p>My real life got in the way, and I just didn&#8217;t get around to writing the articles I had planned.<\/p>\n<p>That all worked out well though, because 2 days ago (Monday, June 7, 2010), Apple released the latest version of their browser, Safari 5.<\/p>\n<p>Safari 5 changes everything for the better.\u00c2\u00a0 It includes a long list of security features and fixes, making it a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153must have\u00e2\u20ac\u009d update.\u00c2\u00a0 (One \u00e2\u20ac\u0153feature\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of the original web browser was that when you visited a web site, the browser would provide the site with a complete list of other sites you&#8217;d visited.\u00c2\u00a0 Every browser since has contained that same feature.\u00c2\u00a0 Safari 5 is the first browser to withhold that information.\u00c2\u00a0 Thank you Apple.)<\/p>\n<p>The new version should show up automatically in OS X\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Software Update.\u00c2\u00a0 If it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t, head over to &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/safari\/\">http:\/\/www.apple.com\/safari\/<\/a>&gt; to download it.\u00c2\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t have it, go get it.\u00c2\u00a0 We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be using it for the next few articles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I started this blog, my idea for the first few posts was a short series of things that make browsing the web more secure and enjoyable (or in some case just more bearable).
